Yesterday, Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C-Pulaski) recognized local agencies with a New York State Proclamation indicating Oswego County as the first “Work Ready Community” in New York state.
Through the Work Ready designation, Oswego County residents can earn the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). This nationally recognized credential assists job seekers in improving their skills in math, graphic literacy and workplace documents. Participants must complete an assessment to receive the NCRC credentials.
This outstanding achievement helps to close the skills gap and provide career preparedness for those seeking to enter or reenter the workforce or seek new opportunities, giving them another tool in their arsenal and pairing people with prospective employers. By becoming “work-ready,” residents can earn the qualifications and certifications needed for today’s modern job market. A skilled workforce means a better business climate and a more sustainable future for New York.
