Katko Announces $70K In Federal Funds To Spur Job Growth, Economic Development In CNY

SYRACUSE, NY— U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced $70,000 in federal funding has been awarded to the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board.

The Board is a public agency that sponsors a wide range of projects that help grow and develop communities in Central New York.

These funds are available through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA). With these funds, the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board will work to attract private capital investment and spur job creation in Central New York.

“Through my work on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, I’ve led initiatives to strengthen investments from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) in CNY and communities nationwide. Today, I’m pleased to announce that the Central New York Regional Planning Board is receiving $70,000 in federal funding from the EDA,” said Rep. Katko. “With these funds, the Board will be better equipped to carry out its mission of creating local jobs and strengthening our regional economy as we recover from the ongoing pandemic. I’m proud to be able to continue supporting this important goal in Congress.”

“I am very pleased to receive this announcement from the U.S Department of Commerce – Economic Development Administration regarding a grant that is being provided to the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board,” said David V. Bottar, Executive Director of the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board. “These grant funds will be used by our agency to support efforts in our five-county region to implement a number of initiatives that are designed to improve the local economy during these challenging economic times.”
