Propane Tanker Crashes in Hannibal

Fulton, NY – State Police in Fulton are investigating a personal injury accident that occurred at approximately 10:15 a.m. today (Sept. 3) on State Route 3 in the town of Hannibal.

A 2009 GMC propane tanker, driven by John E. Berrus, 61, was traveling eastbound on State Route 3, a half mile west of County Route 7, when Berrus exited the roadway from the south shoulder causing him to lose control, flip and coming to rest on the passenger side, troopers said.

A section of State Route 3 was closed for a while between County Route 7 and Pollard Road.

A small fire reportedly erupted, but was quickly extinhuished.

No propane leaked and no one had to be evacuated, authorities said.

Berrus was transported to Oswego Hospital for non-life threatening internal injuries, according to troopers.
