Rain Wins Again at Oswego Kartway, Kickoff Postponed Until May 23

OSWEGO, NY (May 16) – For the fourth consecutive week the Oswego Kartway Kickoff is being postponed due to rain showers and wet grounds.

The Kartway Kickoff will now move to Memorial Day Weekend, meaning main events will run five extra laps to begin the championship season on May 23.

With yet another rain out, all of the Kartway’s designated rain dates are now being utilized.

Race entries and pit wristbands from May 9 will still be honored on May 23.

All drivers that were entered and paid on May 9 will be given free entries on May 23.

Drivers will still have to sign in at the main pit window and draw a pill for the heat races on May 23.  The pill draw officially closes at 6:15 p.m.

Crew members and fans that were in the pit area on May 9 can exchange their May 9 pit wristband for a May 23 wristband at the pit windows, free of charge.  If you do not return to the track on May 23 with a May 9 pit wristband you will have to pay again to enter this coming week.  There are no exceptions in this policy.

Racing on May 23 will mark the first event counting toward the Oswego Kartway Driver Rewards program, featuring two brand new Slack Xpect racing chassis from Root Racing Enterprises and Performance Manufacturing, which will be awarded to two lucky drivers at the season ending championship banquet.

A 14 division racing card will be on the docket for Friday night, including a new junior racing division.

Jr. Purple Clone will be added to the racing schedule as a middle ground between Jr. Green Clone and Jr. Blue Clone.  The Jr. Purple class will run at 275 pounds with drivers ranging in ages between 7-11 years old.

Other junior classes include Sr. Blue Clone and Gold Plate flathead.

Senior racing divisions will include Stock Light, Stock Heavy, Stock 425, Clone Light, Clone Heavy, Clone 425, BSP Clone (open pipe, open clutch), Open, and Champ Kart.

Pit gates will open for competitors on May 23 beginning at 4:30 p.m. with hot laps scheduled to hit the Kartway at 6:30 p.m. Racing is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Entry fees for Kartway members will be set at $15 while non-member entry fees are $18, with pit passes included.  Pit passes will also be available for spectators for just $10.

Friday night’s racing program will see heat race lineups determined by a pill draw, with feature lineups starting straight up from heat race finishes.

As always spectators are welcome to come to the Kartway and enjoy the racing action with a full concession stand available.  Spectator admission is just $5 per car load.

Kartway events run May through September on most Friday nights, culminating with the Fall Frenzy 200 Championships on Saturday, September 20.
