OSWEGO – St. Luke Health Services in Oswego announces the appointment of Debra Robillard to the position of Volunteer Coordinator.
“Having been in the newspaper business for quite a while, I was ready for a change. I got the opportunity to meet a lot of volunteers through my previous job and have such a respect for them and for what they do,†said Robillard. “I really thought there could not be a better job than working with volunteers and doing what I can to try to show how much they are appreciated and help them find the right fit for their skills.â€Â
As Volunteer Coordinator, Mrs. Robillard will be responsible for coordinating St. Luke’s Volunteer Program, which includes nearly one hundred participants of all ages and backgrounds, who are involved in nearly all facets of resident life at St Luke. St. Luke is the area’s largest provider of residential skilled nursing and rehabilitation care.
Regarding her impressions of her new position Robillard noted, “So far, all of my high expectations regarding this position and working at St. Luke have been met. My co-workers, the volunteers and the residents are absolutely wonderful.â€Â
“I think one of the things I love most about working at St. Luke is that smiling is a job requirement! It’s one of my favorite things to do and now my family and friends all tell me how happy I look all of the time. St. Luke is professionally run, yet it is still a “home†and it feels like family.â€Â
Robillard has been married to her husband, Wally, for 21 years. She has three grown children and a Lhasa Apso named Ruby.
Robillard has not completely abandoned her love for journalism and writing. She is a writer for Guidepost Magazine, and hopes one day to write a book.
As an active member of the community, Robillard is am a member of the Professional Journalists and Communicators of Oswego County, a past member of Oswego Rotary Club, and has been coordinating the regional spelling bee for the Oswego School District for the past three years. Her latest interest is working on the newly formed Oswego Reads committee. For recreation, Debra enjoys spending time with her family, reading, dancing, bowling, gardening and drawing.
