Rotarians Learn About Flag Etiquette

FULTON – At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Thom Lynch asked fellow Rotarian Donna Kestner to speak about Flag Etiquette.

She spoke about the history of the American Flag noting there are no laws regarding it other than our right to display one on any property we own.

There are, however, a number of guidelines such as the flag is supposed to be displayed in its draped form.

She also talked about the tradition of placing our right hand over our heart during the National Anthem and when the flag passes before us during a parade.

While not required, it is the most respectful way to express our patriotism.
