FULTON – At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Linda Eagan introduced Tina Bourgeois, preventative health nurse for Oswego County Health Department for the past 27 years.
Bourgeois works closely on the county’s communicable diseases; such as STD/HIV testing, Gastro-intestinal (GI) and Salmonella testing as well as administering assistance at the immunization clinic.
She spoke about the various mandates for reporting TB and STD/HIV as well as counseling.
The county has a rising STD rate, especially in adolescent ages 13, 14 and 15.
She shared information about rabies vaccinations and the partnership with Fulton Urgent Care to administer the shots needed to someone that may be infected.
Her office also provides car seat checks and if needed, new car seats are provided.
She stressed that the flu shot administration clinic is open 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. at the health department on Bunner Street in Oswego.
