OSWEGO, NY – Bowling made a successful return to the Oswego High School sports schedule on November 24 while the girls’ hockey team won its second consecutive game of the season.
On the Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego, the Bucs boys gained a 3-0 win over Henninger while the girls lost 3-0 to the Black Knights.
Jamie Cliff had a sensational first game with a 279 as he hit for 11 strikes and lost his opportunity for a perfect game as a stubborn seven pin remained upright in the eighth frame.
He added a 216 and a 221 for a 716 series.
Oswego won the first game 1,099-922, the second 995-905 and the third 992-904.
Contributing to the successful return of Bucs bowling were Cameron Byrne with a 671 (189-237-245), Matt Salvador 606 (234-168-204) and Matt Clemons 580 (215-227-138).
Leading the visitors was Bobby Moro with a 631 (213-237-181).
Meanwhile the Lady Bucs were paced by Ashlee Lytle 431 (142-150-139) and Christie Hoefer 383 (1326-128-119) along with Paige Blue 376 (134-121-121) and Ceara Donahue 371 (146-115-110).
Lady Buc Icers Win Again
Oswego broke open a 2-2 game in the second period en route to a 5-4 victory over Ithaca.
The Bucs held a 2-1 lead midway through the second period, but Ithaca knotted it up.
However, within a matter of seconds Oswego scored consecutive goals for a 4-2 advantage.
Ithaca nearly pulled off the comeback as the Little Red trailed 5-2 in the third period.
With 29 seconds remaining Ithaca almost tied it up, but Oswego goalie Madisyn Whalen held the opposition at bay to clinch the victory.
Taylar Cianfarano finished with two goals and two assists while Danielle Faivus, Devyn Hutcheson and Caty Darling each had a goal.
Assists were also contributed by Kaitlin Friel, Devyn Hutcheson and Karissa Favata.
For Ithaca, Yonkin had a hat trick and Doerr had a goal.
Whalen finished with 23 saves as did her counterpart at the other end of the ice.
