Bucs Soccer Shut Out At Corcoran

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego varsity boys soccer team traveled to Corcoran on Wednesday evening and came away on the short end of a 4-0 score.

Corcoran opened the scoring 16:48 into the contest when Kyle Stapleton received a through ball from Matt Massenzio and was able to beat Buc keeper Matt Skinner.

The Cougars then tacked on two more goals with less then 10 minutes remaining in the half to build a 3-0 halftime lead.

Coach Don Fronk said, “We had a very difficult time in the first half dealing with their speed.  All of their first half goals were a direct result of the speed advantage they had over us.  We made some formation changes at half time that seemed to allow us to deal with their speed better in the second half.”

The second half of the game saw the Bucs control a little more of the possession as they were better able to move the ball than in the first half.

However, they were not able to finish any of their chances and then with 3:04 remaining in the game the Cougars were able to strike for one more goal to round out the final score.

Fronk noted, “We had some better opportunities in the second half, we seemed to settle our nerves down some and played with more intensity than in the first half.  We need to build on the positives from the second half of this game, if we can do that we should have some good results coming for us in the near future.”

Oswego goalie Matt Skinner finished the game with seven saves, while Corcoran goalie Jon Boehm finished with 6 saves.

Oswego’s next game will be Friday at 4:30 at Auburn. missing or outdated ad config
