The following notice has been posted for the Oswego River:

Due to the construction of the NYS Rte. 104 bridge, certain areas of the Oswego River will be restricted to boat traffic. Please watch for signs and buoys.

Oswego River report

According to Larry Muroski of Larry’s Oswego Salmon Shop:

The river flow has been running about 5,000cfs which is a very fishable level along the river. Walleyes have been very active near the railroad bridge with some sheepshead and white perch mixed in. Shiners, nightcrawlers and leeches are good choices of bait. Northern pike can be found near the lighthouse. Wright’s Landing is producing some pike and rockbass. Look for some rainbow trout throughout the river with nightcrawlers and stickbaits.

Lake Ontario report:

According to Capt. Troy Creasy of High Adventure Sportfishing:

East winds, clear water, lack of bait and just not many fish around made it tough fishing for the weekend. The action we did have was on black & silver Smithwicks off the boards and Dreamweaver Super Slims in the new super glow, green-eyed ghost and beefeater took our bites.

Mexico Bay report:

According to Capt. Gerry Bresadola of B & B Sportfishing Charters:

Question: what are two conditions that make for easy brown trout fishing? Answer, warmer water and stained water. What two things have been missing the past couple of days? That’s right, warm and stained water. As east and southeast winds returned, the brown trout fishing got tougher. Grab a few fish real early and then plug away in order to grab a couple more. Things should perk up with some west wind. That is when standard brown trout trolling methods should once again produce some nice catches. Did I say start early?

Salmon River/Pulaski area report:

According to Whitaker’s Sport Shop & Motel:

Over the weekend we had mild weather again, with temperatures in the 60’s and plenty of sunshine. The anglers who came up for the weekend were happy to be here and get one last trip in as the river fishing winds down. We still have a few drop backs scattered throughout the river, but with the lower water the fish are leaving the river quickly. The water level has been running at 335cfs and will be down to 285cfs through Wednesday. The anglers who are having the most success have been covering lots of water and fishing the deeper holes. Most productive techniques have been, fly fishing with streamer patterns on the swing, float fishing with pink worms or bottom bouncing with egg sacs.

According to Woody’s Tackle:

Brown trout have been active along the shoreline although the wind direction has been a factor some days. Early in the day seems to be the most active time. Look in the shallow water and move further off shore as the day goes on. Spoons off the downriggers fished 5-7 ft. off the bottom back about 100 ft. seems to be working well.

Sandy Pond Report:

According to Dave Wood of Woody’s Tackle:

The northern pike bite continues to be good on the pond and some walleye have been taken. Live minnows, trolling with plugs such as Rapalas, and stickbaits are good choices. Crappies and bullhead are also being taken.

Oneida Lake Report:

Good walleye fishing has been taking place on Oneida Lake. Look around tributary mouths and the shoals. Crappie fishing has tapered off some but they are still active in Toad Harbor. Look for bullhead along the shoreline. Stickbaits, spinners and jigs tipped with a worm are working well.
