Friday Night Super Cruise and ‘Party In The Pits’ Canceled – Practice Still On For Race Teams

OSWEGO, NY – The weekend weather forecast has claimed the first and hopefully only victim of the 2010 Budweiser Classic Weekend as the Syracuse Nationals Super Cruise and WSEN “Party in the Pits” has been canceled for Friday night.

With a 40% chance of rain during the afternoon hours which increase in percentages as the day moves on, the best decision is to not ask the owners of these classic vehicles to attempt the trip to Oswego.

Sine the eight Syracuse Nationals trophies are already in hand, the event will simply be added as a third Super Cruise night on the 2011 season on the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend.

The Friday portion of the 2010 Classic Weekend will still go off with a scheduled practice session from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The cancellation of the Super Cruise will allow practice to run past 4 p.m. if necessary because of weather. The plans are still in place to get all events run as scheduled throughout the weekend.

On Saturday, the “Ride with a Legend” 2-Seater Supermodified rides will begin at 9 in the morning with the pits opening for the racing program at noon. If weather affects the 2-Seater program, a likely scenario is that it would leapfrog to Monday as it cannot be added to the list of events on Sunday according to race director Chuck Handley.

If weather affects any of the three feature events on Saturday, it could lead to running a feature on Sunday morning and clearing out the track to get ready for the regular Sunday schedule which has a 2 p.m. start time this year.

Even with perfect weather in the forecast for Monday, it is not in the works right now to have any racing that day.

The plan is to run three feature events on Saturday and one on Sunday just as the fans and competitors are expecting.

Hopefully the Syracuse Nationals Super Cruise and WSEN “Party in the Pits” is the only casualty of the weather this weekend. missing or outdated ad config
