Fulton Girls’ Lacrosse Tops Oswego 21-10 To Spoil Their Senior Night

The Fulton Lady Raiders lacrosse team played spoiler on Monday night as they visited rival Oswego and beat the Lady Buccaneers 21-10 on Senior Night.

After the first meeting between these two teams a few weeks back, in which Fulton won 16-9, the Lady Raiders knew that Oswego would come out with a tough game plan.

“I thought Oswego came out strong and played with a lot of grit,” said Fulton head coach Drew White.

It did not take long for the Lady Raiders to light up the scoreboard. Fulton opened up with an early goal, and then after several minutes they found themselves with a 7-2 lead.

The Lady Buccaneers were able to pump in a few scores before the halftime buzzer, cutting their deficit to four goals by halftime, 10-6.

Fulton utilized their speed in the second half to outlast the Lady Buccaneers on the field. After finding the back of the net and scoring unanswered goals, the Lady Raiders picked up where they left off and it was quickly 13-6.

The rest of the game was set on cruise control for Fulton as they improved to 12-1 on the season and remain in second place in the OHSL Freedom American League, only trailing the undefeated Christian Brothers Academy. Oswego falls to 2-11 on the year.

“We made some adjustments at half that proved to be effective,” said coach White. “We are a really fast transition team and Oswego gave us the opportunity to capitalize on that, also the fact that our defense stepped up and took better care of their threats was a major importance”

Coach White can have nothing but praise for his Lady Raiders team, who were ranked No. 5 in all of Section III on Monday for the top girls lacrosse teams of CNY by Syracuse.com. It was also stated in the articles that a “very good Fulton team” will be a hurdle for the higher ranked Cyclones of Watertown when sectionals arrive in a few weeks.

The Lady Raiders will travel to take on the Fowler Falcons on Wednesday (5/11) at 6:30 p.m. for the next game, while Oswego take it on the road to play Christian Brothers Academy on Thursday (5/12) for a 6:30 p.m. faceoff.
