William Smith College junior forward Kristen Kush (G. Ray Bodley/Fulton, N.Y.) was named to the Liberty League Women’s Basketball Team of the Week. She averaged 17.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in a 1-2 week for the Herons.
Kush opened the season with 15 points and six boards at Ithaca. Four days later, she recorded 10 points and seven rebounds against No. 14 Williams in the first round of the Emmanuel Tournament. Kush closed out the tourney with a career-high matching 27 points and five boards as the Herons ran past Staten Island 90-57. She was named to the All-Tournament Team. For the week, Kush shot 53.2 percent from the floor and 2-of-3 from the line.
William Smith will be back in action on Nov. 30, when the team competes in the first round of the Wendy’s College Classic. Pairings for the tournament will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 28.
