Laker Men’s Soccer Falls to Oneonta

OSWEGO, N.Y. – Sophomore Ryan Purdy (Stormville, N.Y.) scored a goal on a direct kick in the 67th minute to cut the deficit in half, but the Oswego State men’s soccer team (1-6-0) fell to Oneonta (4-2-1), 2-1, on Friday.

Two goals in a seven-minute stretch by Luke Halberg right before and after halftime provided the cushion for the Red Dragons. Oneonta out-shot Oswego State 18-8 in the contest, while also earning six corner kick opportunities to just two for the Lakers.

Each team only registered one shot on net after Purdy’s goal, but both offerings were saved by the opposing keepers.

P.J. Goodwin (Sr., Baldwinsville, N.Y.) finished the game with five saves. Colan Balkwell recorded four saves for Oneonta in the win.

The Lakers are back in action tomorrow (Sept. 22) as they head to New Paltz to face the Hawks at 1 p.m. missing or outdated ad config
