Oswego Girls Cross Country Team Takes Both Ends Of Dual Meet

The Oswego girls cross country team turned in another outstanding team performance Wednesday, outrunning the visiting Lady Cougars of Corcoran 24-37 and the Lady Knights of Rome Free Academy 27-29, in a CNYCL American Division dual league matchup.

“The girls did a super job and ran very well,” said Coach Jim McCaul. “Our team’s depth and improvement really made a big difference, particuliarly against Rome.”

Freshman standout Mackenzie Robinson finished first overall for the rapidly improving Lady Bucs, with a fast time of 15:41, lowering her previous course best by 40 seconds. Sophomore Lexi Gillard continued her improvement to place third overall for Oswego, with a fine time of 16:14, a course best by 17 seconds.

Sophomore Bridgette Auyer covered the wet and muddy Oswego Middle School course in a strong time of 17:22, to lead a strong pack of Oswego runners that included Jenna Delaney, Katie Abramski, Michelle Champagne, Shandelle Tetro, and Brittany Ross.

“These young ladies really played a key role in our win, by displacing Rome’s fifth runner and Corcoran’s fourth runner,” said McCaul.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Holloway dropped 15 seconds off her previous course best with a time of 18:15 closely followed by teammate Emily Lloyd. Other fine improvements for the Lady Bucs were earned by Ann Taverni, lowering her previous course best by 1:15, Amy Wilcox with a 35 second improvement, Danielle Posillipo, shaving 1:00 off her previous best, Rachel Demling with a drop of 55 seconds, and Marycate Rice, shattering her previous best by 1:33.

Saturday, Oswego will travel to Pine Grove Middle School in East Syracuse for the 17th Annual East Syracuse Cross Country Invitational, scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. missing or outdated ad config
