The following notice has been posted for the Oswego River:
Due to the construction of the NYS Rte. 104 bridge, certain areas of the Oswego River will be restricted to boat traffic. Please watch for signs and buoys.
Oswego River report:
According to Larry Muroski of Larry’s Oswego Salmon Shop:
The fishing activity in the river is rather slow at this time. Things are usually quiet before the salmon run begins in a few weeks. Some bass and carp are still being reported and bass are being taken near the breakwall. There have been reports of some nice perch being taking in front of Flat rock off Fort Ontario. Nightcrawlers and minnows are working well. The water flow has dropped again to just under 3,000cfs.
Lake Ontario report:
The weather has definitely played a part in the lake fishing lately. Although we have not seen the number of salmon that is usual for this time of year, there are still some nice ones being caught. Michigan Stingers have been a good choice for bait. The brown trout action continues to be very good in 45-90 ft. of water. The fish are responding to large spoons and flies behind dodgers and flashers. Bass fishing in and around Oswego and Ford Shoals is providing some really good catches. Fish small jigs tipped with Mister Twister grubs. Slowly bounce the jigs off rocky bottoms and work the shoals and drop-offs. Crabs and worms are always a good bet. Also try the areas around Four Mile Point in Scriba and at the Green Can just west of Oswego.
Mexico Bay report:
Brown trout continue to be the target in 35 to 60 ft. of water. Michigan Stingers are working well and seem to be the top producers. King salmon fishing has been slow but a few fish are being caught when the weather and wind cooperate. Kings are being found in 200 to 400 feet of water, down 85 to 100 feet. Flies and flashers are still working well. Bass fishing has been good in the Mexico Bay area on minnows and night crawlers. Some yellow perch are being caught on small minnows fished along the shoreline in 5-7 feet of water.
Salmon River/Pulaski area report:
According to Dave Wood of Woody’s Tackle:
Bass and pike continue to bite in the estuary.
The brown trout fishing is good especially off the Salmon River. Look in 50-60 ft. of water with a variety of spoons working including Michigan Stingers and Dreamweavers. The salmon remain somewhat elusive with no consistent pattern developing as yet.
Oneida Lake Report:
According to Capt. Troy Creasy of High Adventure Sportfishing Charters:
On Oneida Lake fishing with jigs and worms is still producing some great catches. Generally they have switched to suspended and trolled baits by now, but the anglers bouncing bottom are still taking some very impressive catches. Look for bass in about 6 ft. of water using crayfish and worms and panfish are doing well along the shoreline.
Sandy Pond Report:
The pond is producing some bass, northern pike and some sunfish especially along the weed lines. Casting with spinnerbaits, rubberworms, and small crankbaits is working well.
