The following notice has been posted for Lake Ontario waters:

Remember the area around the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Facility is off limits to boating. The restricted area stretches 1,000 yards offshore and extends from the Alcan plant to the Sunset Bay area along Lake Ontario, east of the city of Oswego.

The following notice has been posted for the Oswego River:

Due to the construction of the NYS Rte. 104 bridge, certain areas of the Oswego River will be restricted to boat traffic. Please watch for signs and buoys.

Oswego River report:

According to Larry Muroski of Larry’s Oswego Salmon Shop:

The water level has dropped to 4,000cfs as of this morning after a couple of rain-free days. There have been reports of some nice perch being taken in front of Flat Rock off Fort Ontario. Nightcrawlers and minnows are working well. The activity in the river is slow at this time. Some bass and carp are being taking and some bass have been reported near the breakwall.

Lake Ontario report:

According to Capt. Troy Creasy of High Adventure Sportfishing Charters:

The brown trout fishing continues to be good at the eastern end of Lake Ontario. Dreamweaver spoons in black & silver, glow green, lemon/lime and the NK Diehard spoon are all working well, as are the E-chip flashers and flies in green or white. Look in 45 to 80 ft. of water. The salmon fishing has been slow with reports that they are still to the north in colder water. Flies and flashers have taken a few in 200-400 ft. of water. Bass fishing in and around Oswego and Ford Shoals is providing some really good catches.  Fish small jigs tipped with Mister Twister grubs. Slowly bounce the jigs off rocky bottoms and work the shoals and drop-offs. Crabs and worms are always a good bet. Also try the areas around Four Mile Point in Scriba and at the Green Can just west of Oswego.

Mexico Bay report:

Brown trout continue to be the target in 35 to 60 ft. of water. Michigan Stingers are working well and seem to be the top producers. King salmon fishing has been slow but a few fish are being caught when the weather and wind cooperate. Kings are being found in 200 to 400 feet of water, down 85 to 100 feet. Flies and flashers are still working well. Bass fishing has been good in the Mexico Bay area on minnows and night crawlers. Some yellow perch are being caught on small minnows fished along the shoreline in 5-7 feet of water.

Salmon River/Pulaski area report:

According to Dave Wood of Woody’s Tackle:

Bass and pike continue to bite in the estuary.

The brown trout fishing is good especially off the Salmon River. Look in 50-60 ft. of water with a variety of spoons working including Michigan Stingers and Dreamweavers. The salmon remain somewhat elusive with no consistent pattern developing as yet.

Oneida Lake Report:

According to Capt. Troy Creasy of High Adventure Sportfishing Charters:

On Oneida Lake fishing with jigs and worms is still producing some great catches. Generally they have switched to suspended and trolled baits by now, but the anglers bouncing bottom are still taking some very impressive catches. Look for bass in about 6 ft. of water using crayfish and worms and panfish are doing well along the shoreline.

Sandy Pond Report:

The pond is producing some bass, northern pike and some sunfish especially along the weed lines. Casting with spinnerbaits, rubberworms, and small crankbaits is working well.
