Oswego River report:
According to Larry Muroski of Larry’s Oswego Salmon Shop:
After a few precipitation free days, the water level has dropped to just over 9,000cfs. Although some areas will still be difficult to access, fishing behind the hotels and on the River Walk West are suggested areas. With little fishing the last few days due to high water, we don’t have much to report. Hopefully we will have some activity with walleye, sheepshead, smallmouth bass and white perch. Remember the bridge to Leto Island is closed, and there are Mandatory Personal Flotation Device (PFD) zones on the Oswego River below the Varick Dam. Lake Ontario report:
This week was slow on the lake. The brown trout bite continues to be spotty. Fishing in more shallow depths early in the morning and moving to deeper water as the sun was up took a few fish on stickbaits and spoons. Although we had reports of some salmon earlier in the week, the activity has been slow the last couple of days. With a northeast wind direction it has been a difficult bite. Lake trout continue to be active in 100-200 feet of water.
Salmon River report:
The river is fairly quiet this time of year. The water flow will be running at 185cfs until 9 pm today, 400cfs through Sunday evening.
Port Ontario report:
The lake fishing has been rather quiet the last couple of days. Lake trout continue to be active but the brown trout bite has been scattered. Very little salmon activity has been reported.
Oneida Lake report:
The fishing on the lake continues to be decent. The walleye bite has been consistent in 10-20 feet of water with some success being reported in deeper water. Bucktail jigs tipped with a worm or blade baits have been working well. Shore anglers are taking some walleye with stickbaits or jigs just before or after dark. The black bass season opened last Saturday with some activity near shore and along the weedbeds.
Sandy Pond report:
Anglers are finding a decent walleye and northern pike bite on the pond. There has been some bluegill and very spotty perch activity. Minnows, worms and jigs remain the suggested bait.
