The following notice has been posted for Lake Ontario waters:
Remember the area around the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Facility is off limits to boating. The restricted area stretches 1,000 yards offshore and extends from the Alcan plant to the Sunset Bay area along Lake Ontario, east of the city of Oswego.

The water level has been dropping this week with the flow running at 4,700cfs this morning. If the water level continues to drop, look for a variety of species at the dam. From the Utica St. bridge north brown trout, steelhead and rainbows are taking nightcrawlers, leeches and stickbaits. Look for walleye in the same area and near the lighthouse and flatrock. Boat anglers are using stickbaits; shore anglers are using stickbaits, nightcrawlers, bucktail jigs, leeches, and twister tails in the following colors – motor oil, black, chartreuse and green speckled. Bass are being taken on a catch and release basis only using minnows, worms, stickbaits, spinnerbaits and spoons. Sheephead are responding to crayfish, crankbaits, and nightcrawlers.
Lake Ontario report:
The brown trout fishing has been a bit slow this week. Very early in the morning – just at sunrise or before seems to be producing some action. Look in 8-20 feet of water with stickbaits and spoons. Areas to try are east of the harbor and west near the “junkyard†and “green can.† The deeper depths have produced a few lakers and salmon.
Mexico Bay report:
Most reports are indicating the brown trout bite was a little slow this week. Early morning anglers are finding some activity in shallow depths. The deeper water is producing some salmon, steelhead, and lake trout.
Pulaski Area report:

Although the weather pattern has been good for a few days, the bright sunny days and flat water are not necessarily the angler’s friend. Brown trout fishing seems to be a bit tougher under these conditions. Early in the morning look for some activity trolling in 8-12 feet of water and move out to about 15-30 feet later in the day. Spoons weighted off the downriggers and stickbaits are working well.
Oneida Lake report:
The walleye bite has been somewhat scattered this week. It has been good one day in a particular area but quiet the next. If you don’t find much activity in the spot you’re in, move around. Look in 20-30 feet of water trolling worm harnesses or jigging with nightcrawlers and stickbaits.
Sandy Pond report:

The weed growth has not taken over on the pond yet so there is still some fishing to be done. Northern pike are taking large shiners and there is a bass bite on a catch and release basis only. A few walleye are being reported with worm harnesses and stickbaits.ith worm harnesses and stickbaits.
