The following notice has been posted for Lake Ontario waters:
Remember the area around the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Facility is off limits to boating. The restricted area stretches 1,000 yards offshore and extends from the Alcan plant to the Sunset Bay area along Lake Ontario, east of the city of Oswego.

The water level has been dropping over the last few days with the flow running at 3,570cfs as of Thursday morning. At this level the river is very fishable. Browns, steelhead and rainbows are active throughout the river. Estaz egg pattern flies, egg sacs, and nightcrawlers are good choices of bait. If you prefer fishing the smaller creeks and streams, the trout action should be good. Look at Rice Creek at the culvert pipe and also at the dam at Mill St. in Hannibal. You will likely find a few salmon in the streams too. Perch are active at Wright’s Landing taking minnows, worms, and spikes.

On Wednesday we got mixed reports from anglers. Those we spoke with who fished the mid to upper end of the river reported a slow day. The anglers that we spoke with who fished the lower end of the river reported having another good day. They reported fresh steelhead on the move along with a few browns in the mix. In the lower end of the river egg sacs or trout beads under a float have been working the best.
According to Douglaston Salmon Run:
Fishing yesterday afternoon was on FIRE! The day had started slow, but around 3 p.m. a fresh group of fish moved into the run and they were hungry. Early reports today are good as well. Anglers are already reporting multiple hookups.
Oneida Lake Report:
The night bite on Oneida Lake continues. Anglers are nightcasting for walleye at dusk into early evening with some good catches being reported. During the day, walleye along with perch are active in deeper water – 30 to 38 feet. Rapalas and stickbaits are good choices for walleye with black/silver and blue/silver good colors and fathead minnows are working for perch.
Sandy Pond Report:
Reports are indicating that action is slow on the pond. A few walleye are being taken with jigs tipped with nightcrawlers or with worm harnesses. There is not much perch activity to report. The Sandies are active if you are looking for some good stream fishing
