Oswego River report:
According to Larry Muroski of Larry’s Oswego Salmon Shop:
It was a perfect weekend on the Oswego River; nice weather, good water flow and lots of fishing action. Anglers are finding good numbers of salmon throughout the river with the highest concentration from the Utica St. bridge up to the dam. Some nice steelhead and brown trout were also taken. Estaz flies, egg sacs, crazy eggs, hot-n-tots, fast tracks and woolly buggers have been working well. Night fishing from the Utica Street bridge north has also been productive.
Notice: The New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) has closed the bridge over Oswego Canal’s Lock 7 at Leto Island. There is no vehicular traffic over the bridge.
Lake Ontario report:
Although the lake fishing is winding down, a good number of steelhead have been active in 200-300 feet of water, down 150 feet from the surface, off the Oswego River.
Salmon River report:

The fishing was excellent this weekend with salmon throughout the river. With the slightly cooler temperatures and some rain in the forecast, the action should only get better as there are lots more fish to come. With the rain, the streams in the area are likely to swell and we are expecting a good October run of fish in them.
According to Whitaker’s Sport Shop and Motel:
The recent stretch of warm and sunny weather was great while it lasted, but cooler weather along with scattered showers is expected for the remainder of the week. The fish have been holding in the deeper pools and also around the gravel areas in the mid to upper section of river. Brighter colors such as orange, pink, purple and chartreuse have worked well in the lower end of the river, while natural colors such as black, brown and olive have worked well in the upper end of the river. Anglers stopping into the shop also reported getting into fish in the Staircase, Ballpark, Papermill, RT2A, Pineville, Trestle Pool, Ellis Cove, Schoolhouse Pool, Upper and Lower Fly Fishing Area.
Oneida Lake report:
The perch fishing on the lake has been good in and around the weeds with minnows and crayfish working well. The night casting for walleyes remains slow due to the warmer weather we have been having. A stretch of cooler weather is coming in by the weekend so this may help to spark some activity. Smallmouth bass have not been cooperating as they are feeding on small gizzard shad.
Sandy Pond report:
