FULTON, NY – Defending Modified track champion Larry Wight scored a big win Saturday night at the Fulton Speedway, his first of the 2021 season.

Wight started the 35-lap feature in 14th and worked his way into the top-five on lap 15. He then set his sights on the rest of the top-five. Wight would move into second on lap 21 with his car on rails using the bottom of the speedway and then drove into the lead on lap 24.

Once out front, Wight was on a mission putting cars down a lap while outrunning Mat Williamson to the checkers.

Other winners on Finish Line Design night were, Matt Janczuk & Ryan Dolbear (Sportsman) Chad Homan (Late Models) Brett Sears (Novice Sportsman) Jason Barney (Empire Super Sprints).

Justin Crisafulli would lead the opening 3 laps of the 35-lap Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modified feature when Mike Stanton Jr. blasted into the lead.

Just after Stanton took the lead, Tim Sears Jr. suffered a collapsed front end, ending his night and three-race winning streak to start the season.

By lap 10 Stanton opened a lead of over two seconds over Crisafulli with Bob Henry Jr., Roy Bresnahan and Corey Barker in a tight fight for third through fifth.

With 15 laps on the scoring tower and no yellows to slow the pace, Stanton would increase his lead to 3.5 seconds. Bresnahan, Crisafulli, Larry Wight from 14th and Henry were second through fifth.

A caution on lap 19 would see Stanton’s big lead evaporate. On the restart Bresnahan took advantage as he drove into the top-spot with Wight driving into second one lap later.

On lap 24, Wight, using the bottom groove of the speedway, would drive into the lead exiting turn four.

Over the final laps it would come down to Larry Wight and Mat Williamson who was making a rare appearance at the speedway. Wight was on rails on the bottom of the speedway cruising first under the checkers. Williamson, Bresnahan, Dylan Zacharias and Pat Ward finished second through fifth.

Over 50 DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman signed into the pits setting up two 25-lap features.

In the first feature Jeff Prentice would grab the lead and open a ten-car cushion between himself and a tight battle between Jake Davis, Tyler Murray, Steve Marshall, Dave Moyer and Willy Decker Jr.

Prentice would increase his lead to a half a straightaway on lap 10 with Davis, Murray, and Marshall still in the hunt. Matt Janczuk was coming fast to the front in fifth.

With 5 laps remaining Prentice still led but his lead was shrinking as Murray and Janczuk were reeling him in. Lap 22 Janczuk moved into second and set his sights on Prentice.

On the final lap Prentice got caught behind a lapped car leaving the opening Janczuk needed to drive by and get the win. Jeff Prentice, Tyler Murray, Willy Decker Jr. and Andrew Buff finished second through fifth.

In the second 25-lap Sportsman feature, Jimmy Moyer would set the quick pace out front opening a half a straightaway lead by lap 5 with Richie Riggs, Mike Button, Ryan Dolbear and Chris Mackey running second through fifth.

With 10 laps showing on the scoring tower, Moyer would increase his lead to almost three seconds. Dolbear, Riggs, Mackey and Button still showed in the top-five.

A yellow on lap 14 would erase the lead Moyer had. On the restart Dolbear would take over the lead with Mackey moving into second.

A yellow on lap 18 would set up a three-car battle to settle it between Dolbear, Mackey and Tyler Corcoran. Over those remaining laps Ryan Dolbear hit his marks and cruised first under the checkers for his first Sportsman win at the speedway. Tyler Corcoran, Chris Mackey, Alan Fink and Amy Holland finished second through fifth.

Jason Barney would bolt out to a full straightaway lead by lap 5 leaving Jeff Cook, Shawn Donath, Paulie Colagiovanni and Joe Trenca to battle it out for second through fifth.

With 10 laps showing on the scoring tower, we would see Barney leading by four seconds while putting cars down a lap. Donath, Colagiovanni, Cook and Larry Wight showed were on the scoring tower in the top-five.

With 10 laps remaining, Barney was still in command with Donath, Colagiovanni, Wight and Cook still in the top-five.

Over the final laps there was no stopping Barney as he grabbed the win lapping up to 11th place. Paulie Colagiovanni, Shawn Donath, Larry Wight and Jonathan Preston finished second through fifth.

The 20-lap Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux RUSH Late Model feature saw Chad Homan grab the lead at the drop of the green with Kevan Cook in second as they looked to pull away from the rest of the field.

At the halfway point it was still Homan and Cook at the front with Brian Knowles, Chris Fleming and Sean Beardsley racing for third through fifth.

Over the second half of the race Homan would pull away for the win. Kevan Cook, Brian Knowles, Chris Fleming and Max Hill came home third through fifth.

Brett Sears would grab the lead early in the 15-lap E&V Energy Novice feature and would go on to his second win of the season. Teddy Clayton, Tayvyn Marino, Scott Kline and John Morrison finished second through fifth.
