The Oswego State Athletic Department announced today that Ron Bronson has been named the head men’s tennis coach at Oswego. Bronson served the 2009-10 academic year on the boys’ and girls’ tennis coaching staff at Colorado Academy in Denver after serving as the assistant men’s tennis coach at Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois in 2009. In addition to his coaching responsibilities at Aurora University, he served as the institution’s Director of Electronic Communications.
Bronson is presently on the senior staff at Windridge Tennis & Sports Camp at Teela-Wooket in Roxbury, Vermont. Prior to his scholastic and prep coaching career, Bronson spent seven years as a coach at various camps around the country including three years as Tennis Director at Camp Awosting in Litchfield County, Connecticut.
As a player, Bronson played a season for Monmouth College in Illinois in 2003 after four years in the United States Air Force. He was selected as team captain, played singles and doubles, and advanced to quarterfinal round of the Midwest Conference Tournament at No. 6 singles. He was a four-year starter at Plainfield High School in New Jersey under the tutelage of head coach Donald Van Blake, who was inducted into the United States Tennis Association’s Eastern Hall of Fame in 2008.
Bronson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Studies from Excelsior College. He is a member of the United States Tennis Association.
