Syracuse Strong roll a three-game win streak into home finale

By Eric Belair, Syracuse Strong Communications Director

The Syracuse Strong are currently on a three-game win streak after escaping the Glove Cities Colonials on Saturday with a 6-0 victory.

Sitting with a 5-2 record on the season and second place in the standings, the Strong have three games remaining in the regular season for a chance to top the charts.

After beating the Colonials 49-6 in their previous match-up this season, the team had to wait for a late fourth quarter touchdown before they could get on the bus to return home with a win.

This week the Glens Falls Greenjackets will be buzzing into Syracuse fresh off of a 14-10 win over the Watertown Red & Black.  This is the first meeting between the two teams of the season, as they close the regular season against each other in a few weeks.

Glens Falls has a 4-3 record on the season, which puts them in fourth place in league standings.

Scoring is close in this matchup as the Greenjackets average 20.4 points-per-game and Syracuse totals 22.4 points in a contest.  There is a bit of a separation with the defenses though.  Glens Falls gives up an average of 12.1 points, while the Strong’s stifling defensive unit is only giving up 4.6 points-per-game.

While on their three game win streak, Syracuse is outscoring their opponents by 26 points.  This is also a result of their defense that has had a shutout in all three games.

Syracuse will be playing their final home game of the season on Saturday (9/12) against Glens Falls.  If you have not had the opportunity to come out and support your Strong football team, then come see Syracuse host the Glens Falls Greenjackets for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Nottingham High School on Saturday.  It is Pop Warner Night at the game, so wear your Pop Warner football jersey to show support for your local football programs and the Strong.
