Sandy Creek Artist Featured on the Cover of UNIQUE Magazine
The UNIQUE 2009 Unveiling Celebration on October 14, 2009 marked the first time Alice Faye Olcott had shown her art in over four years. She was thrilled and surprised when she saw her painting “Blue Moon†on the cover of UNIQUE 2009. Despite severe pain and loss of strength, she danced with her husband in celebration – the first time she had danced in years.
“This year marks the 25th anniversary of ‘White Cane Safety Day’,†said Oswego County Legislature Chairman Barry Leemann. “It provides an excellent opportunity for us to recognize the Vision Network for its priceless contributions as an advocate for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.â€Â
Summer is golf season, a time when people from Central New York take to the local links to spend a few hours driving balls and sinking putts. Many golfers look for opportunities to improve their game, so it is no surprise that the rain and heat could not keep people with disabilities away from the 5th annual three-day golf clinic hosted by ARISE on August 11, 12, and 14.
As the school year begins and children shares stories about what they did during the summer, many talk about their summer camp experience. For some children this would be impossible if it weren’t for camps with counselors that have special training and the desire to make memorable summer camp experiences for children with special needs.
