Think Project Runway meets Junkyard Wars and you would have a general idea of the latest Oswego County Academic Youth (OCAY) League competition. Zoo to You is a traveling educational program that visits a variety of venues, such as schools, libraries, community centers, senior housing and day-care centers to provide an interactive, hands-on learning experience.

Voters Reject BOCES Project

The Oswego County BOCES referendum was defeated Wednesday, almost two to one by voters in the BOCES district. According to the BOCES Web site, 2,810 voters said ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…â€œnoÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â to the project over 1,543 voters who supported the plan.

The hallways and classrooms in most buildings were teeming with activity during the Open House with special activities and presentations in many areas to share with parents and visitors. Parents also had the opportunity to meet teachers and see the student classrooms. Visitors toured areas of the Stern Building and Burton Ramer Technical Career Center where the classes are held.

The Hannibal Board of Education has announced its inability to support Oswego County BOCES’ proposed $48.4 million capital project. Residents in the BOCES region will vote on the proposed plan Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 13 polling places around the county.
