Panel Looks At Ways To Curb Influx Of ‘Fake’ News

Recently a group made up of the WRVO news director and SUNY Oswego communication studies faculty members discussed ways to identify what is fake news and how to stem the flow of fake news in today’s social media world. The onus is on the “consumer,” according to the panel. If an article seems to be too good to be true, too crazy to be true than it probably isn’t true, they said.

Student Reportedly Admits To Fake Threat At OMS

UPDATED: Earlier today (Feb. 17) an Oswego Middle School student wrote a message on a restroom stall indicating that there was a bomb in the building, according to a district statement sent to OMS parents and staff. School officials immediately instituted a ‘stay in place’ as they prepared to evacuate the building. However, evacuation was not necessary as the student provided the administration with a written admission of guilt, the district said.
