Harborfest Terminates Executive Director

UPDATED with Harborfest’s press release  Oswego Harborfest is looking for a new executive director. The board terminated Tom Van Schaack at its last meeting. He said he was informed that the board was looking to take the festival in a new direction and “reenergize” the festival with the 25th edition of Harborfest coming up next year.

Noone Concert Had ‘Family Feeling’

Sunday was a different sort of Harborfest for many who attended the day’s events. Fewer visitors, appeared to fill the venues, but most definitely a family feeling with familiar faces everyone. Many folks connected with people they hadn’t seen in town since last year’s event! Nowhere was this more true than at Breitbeck Park where Herman’s Hermit’s front man, Peter Noone, put on a fabulous show.

Harborfest 24 In The Books – Countdown Starts For 25th Anniversary In 2012

The fireworks are always one of Harborfest's biggest attractions. The 2011 edition continued that tradition of excellence.

Harborfest drew to a close on Sunday after four days of music, foods and various other activities filling up the streets of the Port City. Harborfest Executive Director Tom Van Schaack was pleased that the weather maintained favorable throughout the weekend. “There was good weather most of the week, except for a little rain on Friday morning.  Otherwise, it was nice days for a change. We had nice weather Thursday and Friday night for the concerts and last night for the fireworks,” Van Schaack said.

Children’s Gala Ushers In Harborfest Week

Dozens of youngsters flocked to Breitbeck Park Tuesday evening for the annual Children’s Gala to start off Harborfest week activities.  This was the fourth year that Harborfest has hosted a Children’s Gala that focuses on teaching children about the different cultural themes of Harborfest each year.  This year’s featured culture for Harborfest is England.
