Mrs. Lamb’s Fulton YMCA 3 year old preschool class celebrated Groundhog Day by learning about shadows. They made their own Groundhog Day hats! Pictured is the Tuesday/Thursday 3 year old pre-school class.
Kayli and Meghan Laux, who are college students, volunteered time to talk and present to the children in the Phoenix-2 Head Start Preschool/UPK/Day Care all about the viola and violin.
Parent representatives gathered recently to attend Head Start’s Center Committee Training. These parents were elected within each of the program’s parent groups to serve as officers. Parent involvement is at the core of OCO’s Head Start Preschool.
Peyton Aller, a Preschooler at Discovery Day Care, is making pasta while his friend Riley Carrington watches him. The children were able to eat their pasta they made with their lunch that day. The kids were able to see if they could taste a difference with home made verses store bought.
Emma Donath, in the Toddler Room at Discovery Day Care, is using her Sensory Skill to feel the inside of the pumpkin. She was able to pull the seeds out and explore the “squishy†and “wet†feeling of the inside of the pumpkin.
Bella-Ellyce Hewitt, in the Preschool 1 classroom at Discovery Day Care, participated in helmet painting. The skills she gained from doing this “fun†activity are visual coordination, problem solving, creativity and worked her large motor muscles.

The Fulton Family YMCA UPK Class learned what to do in case of a fire with a little help from the Fulton Fire Department and Elmo. When they were finished a couple of the children participated in a race to see who could get dressed faster, the fireman or the student.
Shawna Beasaw, in the Phoenix 3 Head Start/Universal PreK room at Discovery Day Care, is making a portrait of herself. She used a paper plate, paint that is mached to her skin tone, yarn for hair and different color eyes, different shape for a mouth and nose.
