Scene Around Town: Preschoolers Celebrate Groundhog Day

Preschool Parents Attend Center Committee Training

Parent representatives gathered recently to attend Head Start's Center Committee Training.  These parents were elected within each of the program's parent groups to serve as officers.  Parent involvement is at the core of OCO's Head Start Preschool.  Parents are encouraged to be involved in many ways, from volunteering in their child's classroom to having a voice in program planning and decision making.  The preschool program enrolls 3-  and 4-year-old children.  Applications for enrollment are currently being accepted.  Those seeking more information can call 598-4711.Parent representatives gathered recently to attend Head Start’s Center Committee Training. Making Pasta in Preschool 1

The children were able to eat their pasta they made with their lunch that day. The kids were able to see if they could taste a difference with home made verses store bought.

Using Part of Their Sensory Skills in the Toddler Room

Helmet Painting in Preschool 1

 Bella-Ellyce Hewitt, in the Preschool 1 classroom at Discovery Day Care, participated in helmet painting. The skills she gained from doing this “fun” activity are visual coordination, problem solving, creativity and worked her large motor muscles.

Fulton YMCA Pre-K Gets A Visit From The Fire Department

The Fulton Family YMCA UPK Class learned what to do in case of a fire with a little help from the Fulton Fire Department and Elmo. When they were finished a couple of the children participated in a race to see who could get dressed faster, the fireman or the student.
