Students in the Public Safety and Justice program at CiTi recently participated in a ladder climb to simulate conditions firefighters could potential face. Photo was taken from a drone to showcase the heights students went for the drill.

With assistance from the Mexico Volunteer Fire Department, the students participated in a ladder climb exercise that required equal amounts of courage and teamwork.

A 28-foot extension ladder stood vertically and had ropes attached from every angle to provide support.

Once the ladder was steadied, each students would climb until they reached the top, at which point they would swing their legs over and climb back down the other side.

The drill not only provided students with a real-world technique utilized by firefighters, but also showed the importance of teamwork, according to Public Safety and Justice teacher Mark Bender.
