OSWEGO – Blessings in a Backpack is planning its first “Count your Blessings Trivia Night” to be held on November 4 at The Elks Lodge in Oswego.
The event organizers are busy planning a night of fun and excitement.
Teams of up to 8 players will be competing against each other for first place.
The price per player will be $25 which will include answering the trivia questions and finger foods.
There will also be a cash bar, baskets for raffle, silent auction items and a 50/50 raffle.
Blessings in a Backpack is a not-for-profit organization that feeds children on the weekend.
Often, students that are on the free or reduced lunch program at school don’t have enough food to eat on the weekends.
Blessings in a Backpack gives students a bag of food on Fridays for the weekend.
Research has shown the impact of having food on the weekends makes it easier to learn, better attendance at school and better behavior.
$80 will sponsor a child for the whole 38-week school year, that’s $2.10 per week.
“We want to do this right,” said Melissa Russell, program coordinator of Blessings in a Backpack. “We first had the idea of having one last year, but we want to make a big first impression and felt as though we didn’t have enough time to do that. We are planning a night that should not be missed!”
