Adult Education and Community Education College Course Offerings Through BOCES’ Distance Learning Network

The Oswego County BOCES’ Distance Learning Program is offering a course for adults and community members in Child Growth and Development (EDU 182) throughOnondagaCommunity College. This 3-credit course in child development studies the emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development of a child from the prenatal period to pre-adolescence. Students will use observation and assessment techniques to build an understanding of growth and development. Multiple influences on child development and learning, including the sociocultural context of development, will be explored.

The class will meet Monday nights from6:00to8:50 p.m.in the Distance Learning rooms of eitherAPW,Central Square,Hannibal,Phoenix, and/orSandyCreekHigh Schoolsbeginning on August 22 and running throughDecember 12, 2011. Enrollment will determine which three sites will host the class.

English and reading placement must be at college level and prerequisite tests can be taken in the Central Square High School Distance Learning room. For placement information, contact Sue Parsnow at [email protected].
