A Granby man was charged under the state’s new “Todeschini law” for allegedly fleeing a police officer on Sunday morning.
Fulton Police say David A. Hill, 39, of 183 Prall Road didn’t use his turn signal as he turned a corner at about 1:15 a.m. He then went the wrong way on Buffalo St., which is a one-way street. When an officer turned on his lights to get Hill to pull over, Hill kept going, police allege.
The drive ended about 15 minutes later on County Route 6 in Volney, but by then, Hill’s car had hit a utility pole, knocking power out in part of Fulton for half a day.
Hill was charged with DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and and reckless endangerment. He was arraigned in Fulton City Court and sent to the county jail on $1,000 bail. He will be arraigned in Volney Town Court Dec. 14 on a charge of unlawfully fleeing a police officer — the so-called “Todeschini law”, named for State Trooper Craig Todeschini, whose vehicle crashed, killing him, while chasing a speeding motorcyclist in Onondaga County three years ago.
