FULTON, NY – The United Way of Greater Oswego County recently welcomed community members to its Stone Soup Luncheon. Hosted by St. Joseph’s Parish in Oswego the annual event serves as a fundraiser for local food pantries and helps to raise awareness of hunger in Oswego County.
According to United Way Resource Development Director Ali McGrath the Luncheon was a great success.
“The money we raised and the many boxes of food items we collected will go a long way in replenishing the shelves in our local food pantries, said McGrath. “I wish to thank the community members who attended, and our many volunteers, including employees from Novelis and Fulton Savings Bank, for making the event a success, as well as our many caring sponsors who donated the food for our luncheon: Canale’s Restaurant, Vona’s Restaurant, Oswego Country Club, The American Foundry, and The Press Box for providing our soups; C’s Farms for our salad fixings; Davis Brothers for the salad dressing; Kinney Drugs who provided bottled water; Bosco’s provided the rolls; Giovanni Foods for cases of canned sauce; Dunkin’ Donuts for the coffee, and Cakes Galore for donating our desserts.”
“I would also like to thank the Oswego Lions Club for its generous donation of $1,000 for our food pantries and St. Joseph’s Parish for hosting the event,” added McGrath.
All proceeds from the Stone Soup Luncheon, as well as the food that was collected are donated to local food pantries at the Human Concerns Center, Catholic Charities of Oswego County, and the Salvation Army of Oswego County.
