OSWEGO, NY – The Wear It! Oswego campaign announced it has randomly selected Christopher Doyle of Coxsackie, NY, as the one grand prize winner of the Fish with a Pro sweepstakes.
Doyle will fish for salmon on the Oswego River on Oct. 13 with professional angler and Outdoor Channel TV host Joe Thomas.
Wear It! Oswego also will provide Doyle with two nights’ hotel accommodations at an Oswego lodging establishment, an inflatable life jacket and the expertise of professional drift boat captain Kevin Davis.
According to Doyle, an avid angler for more than 40 years, “I enjoy fishing on the Oswego and Salmon rivers throughout the year. But I am even more excited and grateful for the opportunity to fish with professional angler Joe Thomas during peak salmon fishing season.”
Doyle himself submitted nearly 100 of the 915 total sweepstakes entries received from individuals throughout the United States.
An additional 50 contestants will be invited to attend the free pre-event barbeque to be held in Oswego at GS Steamers http://www.gssteamers.com/gssteamers on Oct. 12.
Attendees to this exclusive, invitation-only event will get the opportunity to meet and have their picture taken with Thomas.
“This event is another great way to reinforce the Wear It! Oswego message among anglers that their personal safety will be greater protected by wearing a life jacket when fishing,” said Thomas. “Chris Doyle, Kevin Davis and I will be sporting our own life jackets when we ‘fish safely’ for salmon on the Oswego River.”
The Wear It! Oswego – an off-shoot of the Wear It! New York and national Wear It! programs (www.safeboatingcampaign.com) – raises awareness about responsible and safe recreation on or near the water, as well as the importance of wearing life jackets.
