The National Weather Service has issued a Lake effect snow warnings for Northern Cayuga, Oswego and Wayne counties until 4 am Saturday.
A lake effect snow warning means narrow bands of locally heavy lake effect snow are likely across the warning area.
Expect rapid changes in road and visibility conditions that can have a significant impact on travel.
In the most persistent bands, there could be 6-12 inches of snow through Friday night. More than a foot of snow could fall over the Tug Hill Plateau.
Other impacts include gusty westerly wind and poor visibility.
According to Fulton’s weather observer, the area received 0.35-inch of precipitation on December 29.
The monthly total is 4.14 inches.
The total for the year is 47.50 inches.
Fulton received 4.2 inches of snow on December 29.
Total snowfall for the month is 38.2 inches.
For the winter, the total stands at 61.8 inches.
