Winter Break Fun planned at The Arts Center

FULTON – CNY Arts Center announces children’s activities planned for winter break, February 17-19 at the Arts Center, 11 River Glen Drive on the Cayuga College Fulton Campus.

With every interest in mind, classes will run each day from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. with one mid-morning class on Wednesday.

Children ages 7 to 12 will learn to act on the fly, unscripted with this intro-style class to Improv Theater – improvisation, cooperation, character development and a lot of laughs, February 17 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Winter Fun Crafts will follow from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. for ages 7-15 making bird treats, recycled owl on a stick and more.

This class will be taught by Alice Lamb, Arty Summer Camp Director and Mary Jane Visser, CNY Arts Center Arts and Crafts expert.

Wednesday wraps up with No Sew Fleece Fun where Visser will guide children, ages 7-15 to make a pillow or small blanket from 1-2:30 p.m.

Thursday the 18th kicks off with Storytelling Skills offering memorization techniques for short stories, fables, fairy tales, monologues and poetry.

It’s a great way to begin practicing for school-wide storytelling contests.

The class runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and students are invited to bring a short story or poem to practice with.

Thursday fun continues with Fun with Duct Tape making simple crafts with crafty Duct Tape, taught by Kelly Newton, CCC Student Government President, February 18, from 1 – 2:30 p.m. for ages 7-12.

The week wraps up with Beginning Guitar with local musician Gina Holsopple.

The class will teach just the basics and how to get started and requires a minimum of five students.

The class will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. for ages 8-15.

There is a discount for siblings.

Make you mark Stampin’ brings the week to a close with Paper Crafting with Stamps taught by Nicole Reitz. Children ages 9 to 15 will make a paper project from 1 to 2:30 p.m., February 19 at the Arts Center.

There is a fee for all classes.

Theatre Classes offers a discount for students taking both classes while Beginning Guitar offers a discount for two siblings enrolled.

Pre-registration will ensure a class isn’t cancelled for lack of interest.
