Forum on ‘bath salts’ set Nov. 27

OSWEGO, NY – A public community forum on bath salts is scheduled for 6 p.m. November 27 in the Robinson-Faust Theatre of the Performing Arts at Oswego High School.

This forum was originally scheduled for October, but was cancelled due to the situation surrounding Superstorm Sandy.

Lee Livermore, public education coordinator at Upstate University Hospital, will be joined by representatives from law enforcement, the district attorney’s office, emergency medical services, Farnham Family Services (prevention, addiction and treatment) and a family that has gone through a problem with bath salts.

Speakers will talk about their specific areas and then the public will be able to ask questions.

The forum is open to the public.

Spring 2013 Tutor Class Graduation

Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County is proud to announce that its latest tutor classes graduated on May 6. Some have already started tutoring Oswego County adults. LVOC tutors complete an orientation and 9 hours of training which includes how to teach adults basic literacy skills.

Sandra Scott Travels: The best place to see North Korea

As part of our DMZ tour we went to Dora Observatory where it is supposed to be the best place to see North Korea. First we had to go through a security checkpoint. We were told to bring our passports but no one checked them probably because the only non-military vehicles allowed are the designated buses which transport tourists from the nearby Imjingak Park into the secured area.
