OSWEGO TOWN, NY – The 16th annual Oswego County Teen Health Conference will be held Oct. 29 and 30 at Camp Hollis.
Operated by the Oswego City / County Youth Bureau, Camp Hollis provides the perfect setting for the Teen Health Conference, which is open to high school youth throughout Oswego County.
The Oswego County Teen Health Conference will provide youth from across Oswego County with the opportunity to come together and be exposed to pertinent health topics that they might not necessarily have the chance to learn about in regular classroom setting.
The conference, which is being sponsored by Entergy Nuclear, the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, will offer teens an enjoyable two days filled with lots of fun, food, and learning and is available free of charge.
High school youth attending the conference will attend workshops on various topics.
There are several workshops offered, and youth will be able to pick the 3 workshops they wish to attend.
This year’s workshops will cover issues such as:
Healthy Relationships, Health Jeopardy, Substance Abuse, Health Education, and Parenting Simulation.
There will also be large group presentations on internet safety and the consequences of inappropriate texting, and a special presentation by renowned anti-big tobacco activist, Rick Stoddard.
Stoddard will address youth about the tactics that big tobacco companies use to encourage them to begin smoking.
In addition to the workshops and presentations, the Teen Health Conference, which is an overnight event, will provide youth with a variety of fun activities including: a ropes course, zumba classes, arts and crafts projects, outdoor sports, and board games.
Hosted by OCO’s Youth & Family Services and Health Services Divisions, The Rural Health Network, Reality Check of Oswego County, ACT for Youth, COCOAA, the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau, BOCES APPS Program, DSS Mental Hygiene Division, and SUNY Oswego’s Lifestyle Center, the event promises to be a fun and informative two days for those that attend.
The Oswego County Teen Health Conference is free and open to all Oswego County high school youth.

The conference will be chaperoned by participating school district personnel who will also stay overnight.
