Marjorie V. Askew, 81

MEXICO, NY – Marjorie V. Askew, 81, a resident of 314 County Route 1, Mexico, died Sunday Oct. 25, 2009, at the home of her daughter in Ballston Spa.

She was born in Oswego and was the daughter of the late J. Howard and Eva Stevens Woods.

Mrs. Askew had been employed for many years as a respiratory therapist at Oswego Hospital.

She volunteered on many committees for the hospital long after her retirement.

She is survived by two daughters, Suzanne (Dennis) Ringer of Ballston Spa and Julie Osborn of Mexico; two sons, Richard Askew of Oswego and Mark Askew of Red Creek; and six grandchildren, Kristin White, Sarah Askew, Easton Osborn, Nolan Osborn, Delana Ringer and Samuel Ringer.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard E. Askew.

Marjorie had International champion Great Dane show dogs and therapy dogs that worked and showed all over the country.

She was an avid animal lover.

She was involved with the animal rescue and was often involved with wildlife rehabilitation.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1p.m. at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Mexico Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
