ESA’s Wallace Named ‘2009 Insurance Person Of Distinction’

The Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of New York (IIABNY) named Robert K. Wallace, agency president and CEO for Eastern Shore Associates Insurance (ESA), the 2009 Insurance Person of Distinction on Oct. 22 at their 49th annual Syracuse Insurance Day conference.

According to IIABNY, “the Syracuse ‘I’ Day committee presented the award in recognition of his contributions to the insurance profession and to the Central New York Community.”

A veteran of more than 30 years in the insurance industry, Wallace became president and chief executive officer of Eastern Shore in 2008. Founded

in 1846, the agency provides a full range of insurance, risk management and financial planning services to Central New York households and businesses through 11 offices.

In addition to his work with Eastern Shore, Wallace heads the Service Agents Council for the New York Municipal Insurance Reciprocal, (NYMIR), a provider of insurance to more than 600 municipalities in New York State. He holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation from the American Institute for CPCU.

Wallace, who resides in Red Creek with his wife, Theresa, is also an active member of Lighthouse Community Fellowship in South Butler, New York, and leader of its HELPS Committee. The group provides physical, emotional and financial assistance to individuals suffering from illness or other hardships. He is a member of Rotary International, a member of the boards of directors of Cayuga Community College and the ELIM Bible Institute in Lima, a former member of the volunteer fire departments in Fair Haven and Owasco, and former mayor of Fair Haven. He has also provided financial counseling to needy individuals and spent summers coaching girls soccer for the Red Creek Soccer Club.
