The following notice has been posted for Lake Ontario waters:
Remember the area around the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Facility is off limits to boating. The restricted area stretches 1,000 yards offshore and extends from the Alcan plant to the Sunset Bay area along Lake Ontario, east of the city of Oswego.

According to Larry Muroski of Larry’s Oswego Salmon Shop:
The fishing on the river has been good. Higher water levels have been helpful in moving fish and providing more opportunity for driftboats. Trout are very active – steelhead, rainbows and browns. There are still salmon in the river with the dam and in front of Lock 6 being good places to look. You will even find some fresh ones.  Egg sacs, estaz egg pattern flies, glo bug flies, egg sucking leeches, trout beads, worms, fathead minnows and pink worms are good choices of bait. With the higher water flow, please use caution and exit the river when the siren sounds. Area creeks such as Nine Mile Creek and the creek near Mill St. in Hannibal also have good fishing.

Salmon River/Pulaski Area report:

We received mixed reports from anglers with some getting into fish while others did not. It just depended on where you fished and the experience level. Overall the majority of anglers did agree that the action improved from the previous day with good reports coming from the Upper and Lower Fly Fishing Area and below the Altmar bridge. If you’re looking for salmon, the upper end of the river still has some spawning in the gravel areas, mostly between Altmar and Pineville.

According to the Douglaston Salmon Run:
The action is a bit slower today with anglers reporting spotty action throughout the run. Estaz patterns in blue and pink have been working on the fly side. Fresh eggs, beads and pink worms have been producing fish under floats.

According to Dave Wood of Woody’s Tackle:
The salmon numbers are dwindling but steelhead are abundant.  We have had enough rain to make the Sandies and Grindstone Creek productive fishing areas.  A variety of bait is working including worms, eggs sacs, flies and most anything else you want to try.

Oneida Lake report:
The nighttime walleye bite has been good but anglers are finding it somewhat on and off – good one night, not so good the next. But overall it has been decent. The yellow perch bite is good using fathead minnows especially in shallow water but others are finding some in up to 30 feet of water. Smallmouth bass are also active in the lake.

Sandy Pond report:
There is not much activity on the pond at this time.

Hannibal Village Market IGA is sponsoring the 12th annual Senior Citizens’ Christmas Luncheon to be held on December 8th, 2009, at the Hannibal Fire Department’s Recreation Hall.
