Oswego Health to Provide Screenings at Community Health Fair

Oswego Health will provide free health screenings at the Community Health Fair to be held Saturday, November 21 at the Red Creek High School cafeteria.

The Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Employees from Oswego Health will conduct blood pressure and bone density screenings. In addition, a representative from Lifeline, a service that allows seniors and others to live more independently at home, will be on hand.

Conducting the non-invasive bone density screening will be Kevin Kain, director of imaging services at Oswego Health. This screening takes just a few minutes and can detect those at risk for osteoporosis, which can cause bone fractures. Eighty percent of those affected by osteoporosis are women, according to the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF). Oswego Health asks that women over the age of 50 take part in this screening.

Oswego Health will also provide information on the Lifeline program that has allowed seniors and others with medical conditions to live more independently. “Lifeline permits people to live in their own home and know that if they need help, it’s available immediately,” said Oswego Health Lifeline Coordinator Lauri Clark.

Ready to take calls from Lifeline subscribers 24-hours a day are specially-trained nurses at Oswego Hospital.

The Oswego Health care system includes the Oswego Hospital, The Manor at Seneca Hill, a skilled nursing facility; Springside at Seneca Hill, a retirement living community; as well as numerous services across Oswego County. For more information, call (315) 349-5500 or visit oswegohealth.org.
