Oswego State Mens Club Hockey news

The Oswego State Mens Club Hockey team went 1-1 in recent NECHL action at the Campus Center Rink.

Ithaca College traveled to Oswego and the Lakers defeated the Bombers 8-1. The game was close through 2 periods but then Oswego exploded for 5 goals in the third period. Scoring for Oswego were Mike Renick, Chase Collins, Mike Steinke, Brad Kervin, James Hollowell, Chris Covel (2) and Jordan Romano. Laker assists were credited to Rob Lippolis (2), Collins, Tim Rinck(2), James Mitchell, Brian Tosti, Greg Distin , Tony Verdon, Nick Atkins and Greg King. Sophomore goaltender Anthony Sellitti started in goal but was injured and freshman Matt McClellan finished the game. Both goalies had a combined 38 saves.

The following night the Lakers hosted the St. Bonaventure Bonnies and were defeated 5-4. Oswego goals were scored by Rinck, Kervin, Atkins and Ryan McAleer . Assisting on the goals were Steinke, Jordan Romano, Collins and Steinke. Oswego fell behind early 3-0 ,scored 3 straight goals but were unable to come through with a win. Mike Reid was in the net for the Lakers and had 23 saves.

Despite the loss, Oswego is tied for second place in the league with Cornell. They travel to perennial powerhouse Penn State- Berks this weekend for two important league games. Penn State was the regular season NECHL champs last year and represented the league at the national tournament.

The Lakers then return home and will be hosting league leading Binghamton on Friday, November 20 at 7:00. at the Campus Center Arena. Admission to all games is free. Oswego is a D1 ACHA team and a member of the NECHL.

The story of the play concerns four affluent couples who gather for a dinner party celebrating their host’s tenth wedding anniversary. So, The Players plan to allow the audience to participate in the anniversary celebration by inviting patrons to attend a wine, and cheese, party before the curtain and sampling a anniversary cake at intermission.
