OSWEGO, NY – After spending 10 years in local news, former television reporter Joleene DesRosiers has come forward with a book that reveals her struggles with addiction, a long-time eating disorder, and poor self-esteem.
As a professional speaker, DesRosiers has made it her mission to change lives with her story. From speaking in schools and organizations to creating life-changing workshops, DesRosiers is determined to guide others toward loving who they are while fulfilling their deepest passions.
“I wasted so many years trying to be someone I wasn’t and it was killing me. I was unhappy with my work and myself. After the death of my mother in 2009, everything changed. I wrote ‘Memoirs of Normalcy: Journey from Sedentary to Extraordinary’ not only to tell my story, but to help others overcome their fears so that they can be everything they’ve ever imagined for themselves,” DesRosiers said. “I used to be ashamed of my struggles. But not anymore. If I can find the courage to come forward and confront my addictions and demons, anyone can.”
Joleene is also putting out a plea to business owners in the Watertown area, looking for a space to host support group meetings once a week in the evening for other individuals struggling with eating disorders.
Help in the Watertown area is limited.
She hopes that someone will step forward and offer space at no cost so that those in the North Country will have a place to begin their journey toward healing.
