BREAKING NEWS: The New York State Department of Health Bureau of Emergency Medical Services has concluded its investigation of the Oswego Fire Department involving incidents which occurred in 2009. As a result, the city has been fined $10,000 fine for the violations.

It was a bit breezy and chilly outside for opening day of the 2010 – 11 school year. Inside the schools it was warm and welcoming, despite the continuous hustle and bustle of workers finishing off renovation work.
The main emergency room entrance returns to the West Seventh Street side of the facility after a year of construction work. Adjacent to the new entrance is a spacious and attractively decorated waiting area for patients and their families.
The campaign for Congress heads into the final days of the opening round with incumbent Democrat Bill Owens sitting on the largest pile of money.
Campaign filings made public this week show Owens with nearly $1.2 million on hand. Owens has spent $1.6 million on his reelection so far.

The two sides also agreed to continue searching for alternative funding sources and ways to tighten their belts to keep the festival a viable option for thousands of people next summer.

“If I could bring my Mom back from Heaven,” Shirley Slate began, reading from her very first essay, a prayer for the return from Heaven for her mother for one more day.
“I just want to hold her one more time,” she said.
That Shirley Slate could read or write that essay was remarkable. At age 52, she’s learning to read and write and aiming to get her GED.
