On 10/09/09, Richard E. Burdick, Jr. 45, of 790 French St., Parish, NY, was operating a vehicle westbound on SR 3 in the Town of Volney at 7:19 a.m. when he reportedly lost control Ã‚Â¼ of a mile west of SR 49 causing the car to strike a fence at 3239 SR 3 and go off into a ditch, where the vehicle was found unoccupied. AnimalÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s action appears to have been a contributing factor with Mr. Burdick reportedly swerving to avoid a deer. He was subsequently located and ticketed for Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident.
On 10/09/09, Antionette N. Bantin, 34, of 51 Lock St., Apt. D. Phoenix, NY, was operating a 2000 Oldsmobile southbound on CR 57 in the Town of Schroeppel at 3:22 p.m. when she reportedly struck a deer, which had entered the roadway 500 feet south of Harris Drive. The impact caused her to go off the roadway and strike and damage a utility pole. Ms. Bantin was transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Syracuse.
On 10/09/09 at 9:49 p.m., Cheryl A. Barker, 52, of 1685 US Rt. 11, Lot 7, Hastings, NY, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree, and Crossed Hazardous Road Markings, following a traffic stop after she was observed crossing the hazardous markings in the road while driving southbound on US Rt. 11 in the Town of Mexico. Ms. Barker was released on tickets returnable to Town of Mexico Court on 10/27/09.
On 10/09/09 at 9:55 p.m., Walter C. Belden, 28, of 3839 Port St., Pulaski, NY, was arrested for Rape, First Degree, and two counts of Criminal Sexual Act, First Degree, both class B felonies; Sex Abuse, First Degree, a class D felony; and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor. The charges stem from incidents that occurred at a Village of Pulaski residence during August, September, and October of 2009 when he allegedly subjected a female under the age of 11 to sexual contact, engaging in sexual intercourse and oral sexual conduct, all while the girl was reportedly blindfolded. Mr. Belden was arraigned before the Hon. Patricia Kerfien, Town of Volney Court, and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond. He is scheduled to appear before Village of Pulaski Court on 10/14/09.
On 10/09/09 at 11:57 p.m., Shelley A. Turner, 44, of 29 Birch Lane, Oswego, NY, was arrested for Petit Larceny, a class A misdemeanor, after she allegedly stole two handbags and a pair of shoes from an acquaintance in a neighboring apartment. Ms. Turner was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charge before Town of Scriba Court on 10/22/09.
On 10/10/09 at 12:39 a.m., Randy M. Thomas, 50, of 2169 CR 12, Apt. 3, Central Square, NY, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Driving With .08 of One Percent or More of Alcohol, and Unsafe Backing, following a traffic stop after he was observed backing into a fire hydrant on CR 12. Mr. Thomas was issued tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges before Village of Central Square Court on 10/21/09.
On 10/10/09 at 12:40 a.m., a Deputy responded to the complaint of a reckless driver in the Town of Granby. Unable to locate the vehicle, the Officer was dispatched to a City of Fulton address to investigate a complaint that a vehicle loaned to a friend had been involved in a motor vehicle accident on CR 85 in the Town of Granby. Further investigation found Joseph W. Perras, 30, of 30 Van Buren St., Fulton, NY, to be the driver of the vehicle described in both incidents. Mr. Perras, was reportedly found to be under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Unlicensed Operation, and Crossed Hazardous Road Markings. During the initial arrest he allegedly refused to be handcuffed and was charged with Resisting Arrest. Reportedly, Mr. Perras had been operating a 1999 Dodge westbound on CR 85 when he lost control causing the vehicle to go off the roadway and strike a utility pole. Mr. Perras is scheduled to answer the Resisting Arrest charge before Fulton City Court on 10/28/09. He is scheduled to answer the remaining charges before Town of Granby Court on 10/26/09.
On 10/10/09 at 7:31 p.m., James E. Bristol, 63, of 1603 Littlefield Road, Camden, NY, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Driving With .08 of One Percent or More of Alcohol, and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, following an investigation into a hit and run accident that occurred in the Town of Williamstown. Mr. Bristol was operating a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck southbound on CR 30 at 7:00 p.m. when he reportedly struck a southbound horse-drawn buggy from behind. The buggy was driven by Katie D. Herchberger, 25, of 362 CR 30, Williamstown, NY, and occupied by another female passenger. The incident occurred 6/10 of a mile south of Miller Road. The right front of the truck reportedly struck the buggyÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s left wheel causing the buggy to leave the roadway and strike a tree on the west side of the road. Mr. BristolÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s vehicle was found unoccupied at the intersection of CR 30 and SR 13. Mr. Bristol was located walking along SR 104. Mr. Bristol was issued tickets and released to a third party. He is scheduled to appear before Town of Williamstown Court on 10/20/09.
On 10/10/09 at 8:20 p.m., Stephen T. Lopitz, 57, of 2138 CR 26, Parish, NY, was arrested based on a warrant charging him with Violation of Probation (Burglary, Third Degree) after he was detained by a member of the Fulton Police Department. Mr. Lopitz was transported to the Oswego County Correctional Facility without bail pending a court appearance in Oswego County Court on 10/13/09.
