The Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County received some much needed support recently for its upcoming 7th Annual “Blue Ribbon Ride†Against Child Abuse from the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department.
On Sept. 8, the Emergency Services Program of Catholic Charities of Oswego County, in cooperation with the Food Bank of Central New York, will sponsor a fresh food distribution.
We are projecting more than 3,000 reports for the year if the pace of reports continues at this level. Last year we ended with 2,757. This is a 9.4 percent increase over 2009 and a 31.5 percent increase over the last two years. We’re averaging about 251 reports a month, that’s pretty significant, the commissioner said.
Oswego County Public Health Director Dr. Dennis Norfleet said this afternoon that a horse in the Town of Albion has succumbed to Eastern equine encephalitis. It is the second horse to test positive for the disease this year in Oswego County.

The Oswego State men’s soccer team battled the heat on Wednesday afternoon as it dropped its’ season opener against RIT 2-0 in Rochester.  The Tigers applied pressure throughout the contest as RIT out-shot the Lakers 20-9. It was the first contest for each squad as Oswego State fell to 0-1 and the Tigers moved to 1-0.
The Oswego YMCA Dolphin Swim Team is a competitive swim program for swimmers from 5 to 18 years old. The coaching staff assigns swimmers to a practice schedule based on their ability and age.
