Oswego County Opportunities, one of the top 10 largest private employers in Oswego County, recently welcomed seven new staff members.
Nancy J. Bugow, 71, a former resident of 162 E. Fourth St., passed away on Saturday Oct. 2, 2010, at the home of her daughter surrounded by her family.

This year’s winner was Matt VerSchneider with a 1,283-pound entry. It would have even bested last year’s winner (Alan Nesbitt’s 1,229.5-pounder). In second place was Andy Wolf (1,274 pounds, followed by Walter Merriam (1,241.5) and Nesbitt (1,193.5). This year saw dozens of entries with seven topping the 1,000-pound plateau.

As the weather starts turning colder, dozens of cats and dogs are seeking a warm, loving ‘forever home.’ The Oswego Animal Shelter needs your help in finding homes for about 60 cats and 16 dogs. The Oswego County Humane Society has about 80 cats and 10 dogs in foster homes right now.

In an effort to ensure the safety of the community’s youth, the Oswego Lions Club will be providing free bicycle helmets during the CNY Great Pumpkin Festival.
