Community Partnerships for a Tobacco Free New York launched a campaign to educate New Yorkers about the benefits of tobacco free outdoor recreational areas. The campaign raises awareness of the environmental impact of tobacco litter, dangers of secondhand smoke and influence on children when tobacco use is not restricted.
Scheduled for Aug. 13 and 14, Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament serves as a fundraiser for the agency’s food pantry and CYO program.

The BOE established the Rebel Spirit Award as a way to acknowledge and recognize individuals or groups who, through their own actions, demonstrate outstanding effort and leadership in the display of Rebel pride and spirit, in school or through community efforts.
Congressman Bill Owens held a town hall style meeting at the Auditorium in the Campus Center on the SUNY Oswego Campus tonight (June 28). The meeting was open to anyone and more than 50 people were in attendance. Anyone that wanted to was given the opportunity to ask Congressman Owens a question.
Stanley E. Keech, 73, of Martville, passed away Monday at Auburn Memorial Hospital.
James N. Ridgeway, 72 of Volney, died Sunday at home following a sudden illness.
